Hainault Community Hub
In April 2023, the Council paused the delivery of the Gants Hill and Hainault Hub schemes, in light of rising construction costs, challenging housing market conditions and the difficult economic climate. The Council will revisit these decisions as prevailing economic conditions improve, and with them the Council's own financial position.
---------
Hainault Community Hub will serve residents from across Hainault and Fairlop, and will be delivered in partnership between Redbridge Council and Hainault Forest Community Association, which has served local residents for over 70 years. It will be based on Manford Way, renewing HFCA's facilities as well as investing in a state-of-the-art library, enforcement hub, activities for children and families, and a range of council services.
Plans for Hainault Community Hub will be developed through a process of co-design with local residents, which will also identify priorities for the Hub and wider area.

Hainault Hub design process kicks off
Share Hainault Hub design process kicks off on Facebook Share Hainault Hub design process kicks off on Twitter Share Hainault Hub design process kicks off on Linkedin Email Hainault Hub design process kicks off linkResidents from Hainault and Fairlop have been meeting to shape the future Hainault Community Hub scheme on Manford Way.
The group is made up of 30 residents, from as young as 11-years-old, and come from a range of different backgrounds representing the wider community. They are being supported by representatives from other local organisations and charities, including partner organisation Hainault Forest Community Association.
The group toured Manford Way and explored what makes Hainault and Fairlop unique, and their future vision for the area. Residents also got hands-on with building blocks to develop different options for the scheme, taking into consideration the Hub services, activities, parking, housing and green space they want to see on the site.
The sessions will run until 16th January 2023. The insights from the co-design process will form a set of ‘design principles’ which will establish the foundations for future plans for the scheme.

Help appoint Hainault Hub scheme architects!
Share Help appoint Hainault Hub scheme architects! on Facebook Share Help appoint Hainault Hub scheme architects! on Twitter Share Help appoint Hainault Hub scheme architects! on Linkedin Email Help appoint Hainault Hub scheme architects! linkCLOSED: This discussion has concluded. The Community Hubs programme aims to work with residents to co-design and deliver each Community Hub, and the appointment of architects and design professionals to develop plans for each Hub is an important part of this. This has been the case previously in the Seven Kings Hub and Gants Hill Hub design processes.
We are looking for up to three residents to form part of a mixed panel process including council officers, community members and an external representative, to appoint a firm to produce a Stage 1 report for the Hainault Hub scheme. A Stage 1 report assesses the feasibility of the site for different designs, and develops a set of 'design principles' to shape future plans. It does not develop plans for the site, which follows at a future stage. Residents should not have conflicting or political interests in the process.

If you are selected to participate in the process, you will need to:
- Have approximately 15 hours of time to give to the process between July to August 2022

Celebrating stories of Hainault
Share Celebrating stories of Hainault on Facebook Share Celebrating stories of Hainault on Twitter Share Celebrating stories of Hainault on Linkedin Email Celebrating stories of Hainault linkHainault residents have been expressing what belonging to the area means to them as part of a community creative project titled the Belonging Project.
Local people and groups produced expressive artwork for a showcase of artistic talent and celebration of belonging in Hainault on 18 June 22. The event at Hainault Forest Community Association included mosaics, trails and photography from a number of local residents and partners, including Forest Academy, Link Place, Inclusive Communities, Forest Farm Peace Garden, Hainault Youth Club and Redbridge Cycling Centre.
Visitors were able to paint and create their own mosaics to add to a larger community mosaic artwork, have their say on what makes them feel like they belong, and follow a trail to gain insights into the fascinating stories and histories of Hainault residents.
The insights gained will feed into the development of the future Hainault Community Hub, which Redbridge Council has partnered with Hainault Forest Community Association (HFCA) to deliver.
Watch this space for where you can see the eye-catching artwork exhibited in the future.

Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop
Share Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop on Facebook Share Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop on Twitter Share Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop on Linkedin Email Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop linkSince Autumn 2021, Community Organisers Neeta Kanagaratnam and Sam Toogood have been meeting local people and local organisations to hear what people love about their area, what they would change, and what it means to 'belong' in Hainault and Fairlop.
The team have so far met with over 300 residents, who have highlighted their love for green spaces, community spirit, good transport links and the thriving Manford Way parade as things they love about living in the area. The challenges they've identified include access to services, more activities for young people and enforcement and community safety issues.
Over the next six months, Neeta and Sam are keen to continue meeting with residents - either individually or in groups - and to expand the number of schools, charities and businesses they have already connected with. They will also be working with residents to launch the 'Belonging Project' in early summer - exploring what the theme of 'belonging' means, and how it can shape the future Hainault Community Hub.
