Listening to residents in Hainault and Fairlop

Since Autumn 2021, Community Organisers Neeta Kanagaratnam and Sam Toogood have been meeting local people and local organisations to hear what people love about their area, what they would change, and what it means to 'belong' in Hainault and Fairlop.

The team have so far met with over 300 residents, who have highlighted their love for green spaces, community spirit, good transport links and the thriving Manford Way parade as things they love about living in the area. The challenges they've identified include access to services, more activities for young people and enforcement and community safety issues.

Over the next six months, Neeta and Sam are keen to continue meeting with residents - either individually or in groups - and to expand the number of schools, charities and businesses they have already connected with. They will also be working with residents to launch the 'Belonging Project' in early summer - exploring what the theme of 'belonging' means, and how it can shape the future Hainault Community Hub.
