Celebrating stories of Hainault

Hainault residents have been expressing what belonging to the area means to them as part of a community creative project titled the Belonging Project.

Local people and groups produced expressive artwork for a showcase of artistic talent and celebration of belonging in Hainault on 18 June 22. The event at Hainault Forest Community Association included mosaics, trails and photography from a number of local residents and partners, including Forest Academy, Link Place, Inclusive Communities, Forest Farm Peace Garden, Hainault Youth Club and Redbridge Cycling Centre.

Visitors were able to paint and create their own mosaics to add to a larger community mosaic artwork, have their say on what makes them feel like they belong, and follow a trail to gain insights into the fascinating stories and histories of Hainault residents.

The insights gained will feed into the development of the future Hainault Community Hub, which Redbridge Council has partnered with Hainault Forest Community Association (HFCA) to deliver.

Watch this space for where you can see the eye-catching artwork exhibited in the future.
