Our Vision

By 2041, travel in Redbridge will be safer, healthier, greener and more inclusive. There will be more affordable choices for all journeys that help us to live healthier and more independent lives. At least two thirds of all journeys will be by public transport, walking, wheeling (i.e. using wheelchairs and mobility scooters), cycling or scooting.

Our ambition is to create seamless and safe connections between the bus, underground and rail networks, and an extensive network of zero emission vehicle charging points that support the Borough’s carbon neutral ambitions with the aim to keep Redbridge moving.

Themes and Priorities

Our strategy comprises four themes, each with its own set of priorities and targets, with an action plan to meet our goals. We are interested to hear your thoughts on our themes and priorities and whether they align with your future vision for the borough.

Key Commitments and Action Plans

Within the strategy the Council has identified numerous action points. The main ones are contained within the strategy in each section, you can also find the full list of actions here. The actions involve short, medium and long term milestones and will be reported on at every refresh stage of the strategy, every five years. The refresh allows the strategy to remain contemporary and relevant to the boroughs circumstances.

The maps shown with the strategy and the one highlighted below present an overview of some of the Council's proposals as part of the strategy. The Council are extremely interested to hear your views and feedback on areas within the survey and also in the map below on any other areas you would like the Council to note and undertake feasibility studies on to improve the borough. This can be in relation to speeding, better crossing opportunities, notifying us of flooding, better cycle routes in certain areas, installing more electric vehicle charge points, or anything else you wish to notify us of.

Strategy Timescales

The strategy has gone through numerous stages in order for us to have a draft for public consultation. The stages below show the work and engagement that has been undertaken so far and this stage is extremely important, it is for us to hear your views on the draft strategy and provide us feedback in order to shape its final version.
