Redbridge Alternative Provision (RAP) is a Pupil Referral Unit that provides 48 places, for students aged 5 to 16, located at Starch House Lane, Fullwell Cross, Barkingside, Ilford, Essex, IG6 1PU. As an emergency temporary measure in 2022/23, the London Borough of Redbridge made provision for an additional 45 pupils at the Hainault Youth Centre, to accommodate a substantial increase in demand for places for pupils entering the UK education system at Year 11.
The London Borough of Redbridge is proposing to formally expand Redbridge Alternative Provision onto an additional site at Hainault Youth Centre, 116 Huntsman Rd, Ilford IG6 3SY, effective from 1 January 2024. In order to account for current levels of demand, it is proposed that this facility be established with a capacity of 65 places, for an exclusively Year 11 cohort. This would thereby formally increase the capacity of Redbridge Alternative Provision from 48 to 113 places (11-16). It should be noted that there is already a temporary 45-place facility at the Hainault Youth Centre, which this proposal would formalise and expand.
The London Borough of Redbridge would like to know what the community thinks about this proposal and you can provide feedback via the online questionnaire on this page.
We are going to hold a public meeting where you can express your views, obtain more information and have your questions answered. The details of the meeting are as follows:
