We have been awarded funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA) to deliver a series of projects to improve connections between Ilford and the Roding Valley providing our residents and visitors access to green spaces.
The five proposed interventions are:
1. A new pocket park at York Road, and bridge crossing to access the Roding Valley. This will give residents access to a new green space and more accessible cycle and pedestrian routes to the River Roding and Roding Valley Way.
2. A riverside route from the new bridge southwards towards Barking and westwards towards Wanstead. These paths will encourage active travel whilst enjoying nature.
3. Developing the detailed design for Ilford Western Gyratory and Ilford Garden Junction including dedicated cycle routes. This will build on existing work of the Ilford Garden Junction, in partnership with Newham.
4. A business case for an Urban Room. Working with grassroots community organisations, education providers and stakeholders to create a business case for a physical presence in the area to engage with residents, business and visitors in relation to the changes to the area.
5. Ilford Ranges. Working in partnership to explore the opportunity to rewild and create a 22-hectare park within Roding Valley.
