Redbridge Primary School - Ridgeway Gardens School Street Extension
School Street at Redbridge Primary School
Redbridge Council is proposing to extend the existing School Street measures at Redbridge Primary School to include Ridgeway Gardens.
Redbridge School Streets prevent non-residential vehicle traffic from outside the zone from entering School Street zones and travelling past schools during school start and finish times, during term time only.
Vehicles parked within the School Streets zone can exit the School Streets zone without penalty, at any time, even during the restricted period.
Residents and business located within the zone are entitled to a free vehicle exemption allowing them to enter the area during restricted times.
Provide your views on extending the existing School Street at Redbridge Primary School by completing the short survey below by 23:59 on Sunday 21 December 2025.
At Redbridge Primary School, the School Street would continue to be in effect from 8:15 - 9:15am and 2:30pm - 4:00pm Monday through Friday during school term. The map below shows the streets that are included in the School Street in green and the proposed addition of Ridgeway Gardens in Red.
If the proposal is implemented then residents and businesses on these roads can apply for a free vehicle exemption from the council.

Benefits of School Streets
School Streets aim to reduce levels of air pollution around our schools, making the air children breathe cleaner. They protect children from traffic hazards at the school gate, preventing accidents and keeping children safe. Students and families are also encouraged to walk and cycle to school, improving health and fitness.
We currently have 35 schools participating in School Streets in the borough of Redbridge. Results of this scheme at other schools have shown that they are successful at reducing traffic around school areas, thus making the area safer and encouraging students to walk and cycle to school. The School Streets scheme has been developed off the back of the Child Friendly Redbridge programme, which started in 2019. Redbridge Council is currently working with UNICEF UK to become a recognised Child Friendly City or Community.
