What is Redbridge in Conversation?

Redbridge in Conversation brings together all of the conversations the council is having with our residents, businesses, and visitors to the borough. We want to show how and when you can get involved and have your say, because it is important we work together to make sure Redbridge is a great place to live for everyone.

Why is it important to work together?

Over the past few years working with residents we have delivered some of our most ambitious programmes of work including the Community Hubs Programme which is ongoing, the Crime Commission, and our COVID-19 response.

We want to build on these successes and to do this we must be speaking with our communities and maintaining an ongoing and positive relationship to ensure the borough thrives by creating new connections, bringing together different perspectives and strengthening Redbridge.

What happens in these conversations?

These conversations, or events, allow the public to share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions with the Council. We use this information to inform decisions. Therefore, it is important we have these conversations so we are making the right decisions for everyone within our borough.

The next Redbridge in Conversation event will be taking place on Tuesday 7th November 2023, at Loxford School. Find details and register below.

There was a strong turnout from local people as once again over 100 people were in attendance for our latest Redbridge in Conversation event at the Forest Academy, Hainault, on Thursday 16 March. Local people came together to discuss how we can work together to tackle the cost-of living-crisis and to share issues that were important to them.

To start the event, we gathered to take part in round table discussions about how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting them and how we can work together as a community to tackle the issues it presents to us. We had some extremely productive discussions and were fascinated to see the insight that local people had to offer.

The Leader of the Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, then gave a short presentation to discuss the work across the borough related to the cost-of-living crisis, which reassured residents that help is available and signposted them to that help.

Local people then took the floor for a Q&A with Cllr Athwal, where they asked questions about topics that were important to them and discussed local issues that they care about. It was great to be able to talk to local residents about the issues that matter to them the most.

Thank you to all who came on the evening. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces. If you want to continue the conversation, please leave a comment below or email engagement@redbridge.gov.uk(External link).

Residents hear a presentation on the cost of living, crime, and cleansing. Our first Redbridge in Conversation event took place last week at Loxford Polyclinic.

This event was a chance for residents to discuss the rising cost of living and hear about the support available, including the Household Support Fund. Councillor Chowdhury (Cabinet Member for Crime, Safety and Community Cohesion) led a Q&A session. Residents were also able to talk to council officers and councillors about how the council and residents can work together to support our community.

We plan to hold more Redbridge in Conversation sessions, so keep an eye out for our next event.
