The Council commissioned two surveys, one in March 2024 and one in November 2024 due to the feedback from local councillors and residents of severe congestion on Evanston Gardens. The reason for the two surveys was to see if any of the traffic calming measures put on roads in the area reduced rat running as drivers were having to go slower over speed humps.
The survey included monitoring a number of sites to record traffic flows in several directions and analyse their destinations from the origin of their journey. The map below shows where the sites were chosen to monitor (labelled from A to K) with the referring numbers to the journey direction taken.
The Council wish to engage with residents on the data collected and bring together residents to come up with potential solutions with Council officers. This will initially involve a of webinar where Council officers will be explaining the data contained within this information pack located here which is also in the "Documents" section in the right hand side of the page. The webinar will be recorded and allow questions which the officers can answer there and then or feedback on later.
After the first webinar Council officers will be looking to hold in person sessions in groups with residents to further explore problems and potential solutions. Officers will then collate that information and present it back to residents in a second webinar. Following that a public consultation will take place on the set of proposals and a Council will look to make a decision on the proposals taking into consideration all feedback from all stages should a viable solution emerge from the discussions held.
