Our Works
We are writing to seek your feedback on flood alleviation works that have recently been completed in your area.
Since the July 2021 the Council has been working to reduce the risk of flooding in the borough to help protect homes and businesses. The Council has created statutory Section 19 reports and Flood Risk strategies to help target interventions in locations that have flooded or are at risk of flooding.
The Council has spent over £2.5m over the last four years and has committed to a further £10m over the next eight years to continue its work to reduce flood risk. The Council have introduced a series of measures from rain gardens to other forms of flood alleviation schemes to store water and slowly release it back into the Thames Water sewers. This slow release helps to stop the sewers from becoming overwhelmed which was the primary cause of flooding in July 2021.
Through its programme to date the Council can attenuate over 1.6m litres of water at anyone time to reduce the risk of flooding, this equates to over 8,889 wheelie bins full of water it can hold and slowly release into the Thames Water sewer system.
Below are some of the photos of works we have completed this year in your area that we are seeking your feedback on:
Henley Road – rain garden and junction improvement
Dawlish Drive – rain garden and junction improvement
Hermon Hill – permeable asphalt and hydrorock blocks underneath the parking bays
Wellesley Road – hydrorock block in construction
What we are asking of you?
We welcome feedback on:
