Highlighting and addressing issues that matter to young people

In 2019 Redbridge Council called a climate emergency. In a survey, 60% young people were concerned about climate change, so Redbridge Council brought young people in to the fold, to learn more about climate change and sustainability, to understand practical things they can all do to help live in a more eco-friendly way, and to give young people a platform to share their concerns with politicians and local leaders.

The Youth Climate Forum was held, and has been an annual event for several years. Workshops held within this event have included addressing climate change through creative arts, understanding the causes of climate change, repair workshops for sustainability, and a panel on green jobs and careers. Young people, schools, councillors and other influential community leaders attended.
