Snaresbrook Zone A: Permit Parking Consultation
The Council has received two petitions from local residents requesting that new permit parking controls are introduced. This is in response to concerns over increased parking in the area, which can make it harder for local residents to park near their properties.
Have your say
We are consulting you to see whether you would support new permit parking controls in your area to make parking easier for local residents. A decision will be made based on the responses received to this consultation. It is important that you have your say.
Please complete the online parking questionnaire at the bottom of this page.
How would parking controls work?
Any new permit parking controls would operate as part of the adjacent Snaresbrook A (SA) permit parking area, operational from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. Only those that live or work inside the permit parking area would be eligible to apply for permits.
Signs would be displayed at entry points into the permit parking area to indicate that parking is for local permit holders only during the controlled hours. Smaller parking signs would be displayed on lamp posts throughout the permit parking area as a reminder to drivers.
The plan on this consultation webpage provides an overview of where these new parking controls would apply.
There are usually no single yellow lines or permit bays marked in the controlled area. This means that permit holders would be free to choose their own parking place, as long as this does not cause obstruction. This maximises the amount of parking space available to local permit holders as it means households can park in front of their own dropped kerb when displaying a valid permit. It also reduces the visual impact that road markings can have on the street-scene.
All existing double yellows lines would remain and further double yellow lines would be provided at all local junctions on road safety and accessibility grounds.
You would not need to display a permit when parked on your driveway or when parked on any other private land.
In order to support visitors, for example those attending a local property without holding a visitor permit, shared use parking bays would be provided. These bays would allow short stay parking by pay by phone users (one hour of parking would be FREE of charge, with longer stays up to 3 hours available for a small charge) or parking by local permit holders for as long as needed.
