The Council has received a petition from Monkham’s Lane and Knighton Close requesting that new parking controls are introduced. This is in response to concerns over non-residential parking taking place within this area, which can obstruct passing traffic and make it harder for local residents to park near their properties.

HAVE YOUR SAY

We are consulting you to see whether you would support any new parking controls being introduced. A decision will be made based on the responses received to this consultation. It is important that you have your say. Please carefully read the following information before completing the survey at the bottom of this page.

OPTION A: PERMIT PARKING

The adjacent Woodford Green WGB Permit Parking Area could be extended into your road to protect local parking spaces for local permit holders only.

Permit parking signs would be displayed at the entrances to the controlled area to indicate that parking past that point is for local permit holders only, with smaller parking signs displayed on lamp posts as a reminder to drivers. You can only use your permit to park in the zone that your permit was issued for.

It is intended that any new permit parking controls would apply from 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday (the same as the adjacent Woodford Green WGB Permit Parking Area). If you would prefer any alternative days and/or times this can be specified in the comments box when completing the online questionnaire.

There are usually no single yellow lines or permit bays marked in the road. However, any existing double yellows lines would remain at junctions on safety and accessibility grounds.

This means that permit holders would be free to choose their own parking place, as long as this does not cause obstruction. This maximises the amount of parking space available to local permit holders as it means households can park in front of their own dropped kerb when displaying a valid permit. It also reduces the visual impact that road markings can have on the street-scene.

Permit parking controls would only apply when parked in the main carriageway. You would not need to display a permit when parked on your driveway or when parked on any other private land.

OPTION B: SINGLE YELLOW LINE (ONE HOUR)

The adjacent single yellow line restrictions in Woodford could be extended into your road to prevent vehicles from being able to park on-street from 2 to 3pm, Monday to Friday. It is important to note that single yellow lines would apply to everyone, whether you are a local resident or not.

A limited number of free parking bays could be provided to try and help those residents and their visitors that do need to park on-street during the controlled time. Any free bays would be available on a first come first served basis and they could be used by anyone (including non-residents).
