Mercato Metropolitano (MM), an artisanal food and community market will soon open in Ilford town centre, serving a variety of delicious food and drink to visitors this summer.
Ilford MM will transform Redbridge Town Hall car park into a covered food market promoting fresh food from local growers and encouraging social enterprise with start-up food and beverage businesses. In addition, over time MM Ilford will grow to provide a community space with a comprehensive engagement programme offering cooking classes, food growing, health and fitness classes, music and dance.
As well as providing the perfect day out for hungry visitors, MM Ilford will help boost local employment by directly employing 16 members of staff and creating space for local trading partners to sell their wares. Overall, it is expected that MM Ilford will create around 100 local jobs.
The market opening was initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will now open in the summer so local people can enjoy the season with fresh, delicious food and drinks right in the heart of Ilford.
