FAQs
How will the restriction work?
During the hours of operation of the restriction, no motor vehicle traffic will be able to access Granville Road or Albert Road from Ashford Road except for access. Access would mean residents returning to their homes, delivery drivers delivering goods/packages, friends/carers/professional visitors visiting residents. In practice this will mean any motor vehicle that enters Granville Road or Albert Road from Ashford Road will be deemed to have contravened the restriction if they continue straight down to Chigwell Road. Any vehicle which stops to access a property on these roads will be in compliance with the restriction.
When will the restriction operate?
The restriction will operate on weekdays (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
Will the restrictions apply to residents on Granville Road and Albert Road?
The restriction will apply to all motor vehicle traffic including residents of Granville Road and Albert Road.
What happens if I can’t find a parking space and have to continue straight down Granville Road and Albert Road to Chigwell Road?
Any motor vehicle that enters Granville Road or Albert Road from Ashford Road will be deemed to have contravened the restriction if they continue straight down to Chigwell Road.
Can residents be exempted from the restrictions?
Providing an exemption for residents would require a significant administration burden on the scheme which would make the scheme economically unviable. It would also make it more difficult for visitors, deliveries and essential services such as care givers to access properties on these roads.
How will the restriction be enforced?
The restriction will be enforced by cameras installed on Ashford Road at the ends of Granville Road and Albert Road which will monitor whether vehicles have stopped on the roads or have continued straight down to Chigwell Road.
Is the School Streets Scheme on Oakdale Road, Woodville Road (between Beechcroft Road and Rose Avenue) and Ashford Road (between Graville Road and Oakdale Road) still being implemented?
The School Streets Scheme will be implemented however an extension to the scheme extending the restriction on Ashford Road to the junction with Beechcroft Road is required. The intention is to introduce both schemes at the same time.
How is the scheme being funded?
If progressed, the scheme will be funded from existing Council budgets.
