The London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, and Redbridge are launching a period of public consultation on the East London Joint Waste Plan Regulation 19 Submission Plan (‘the Plan’). This is the final consultation before the submission of the Joint Waste Plan to central government for examination.
The East London Joint Waste Plan Regulation 19 Submission Plan provides the strategic vision for the management of waste in East London until 2041. The Plan aims to ensure that there continues to be enough waste facilities to manage waste, located in the right areas to reduce the impact on local communities and the natural environment. The Plan contains policies to ensure developers should consider the management of waste from the demolition and construction of buildings, and when a development is occupied. Policies also cover circular economy, the provision of waste and wastewater capacity, the design of waste management facilities, and safeguarded waste sites across East London.
Consultation period
This period of public consultation for the Plan will run for a total of six weeks from Monday 19 May to 11.59 pm on Monday 30 June 2025.
