We want children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), their families and the people who support them to have a real say in decisions about SEND services in Redbridge.
We have developed a draft SEND Co-production Charter. The Charter sets out how children and young people with SEND, parents and carers, the Council, schools, health services and other partners should work together. It is about listening to each other, respecting different experiences and working together as equal partners to shape and improve services.
What is co-production?
Co-production simply means working together.
It means children and young people with SEND and their families are involved in shaping decisions and services alongside the professionals who support them. It is about working with people, rather than making decisions for them.
How has the Charter been developed?
The draft Charter has been co-produced with people involved in SEND in Redbridge, including:
young people
parents and carers
Council officers
schools and education partners
health partners.
We now want to hear from the wider SEND community to make sure we have got it right.
Why are we asking for your views?
The Charter is still a draft. Before it is finalised, we want to know whether it reflects what matters to children and young people with SEND, parents and carers, professionals and our partners.
In particular, we want to know:
Is the Charter clear and easy to understand?
Does it include the right principles and commitments?
Is anything important missing?
Is there anything you think should change?
How should the Charter be used in practice?
What would help make co-production work well across Redbridge?
Your feedback will help us improve the Charter before it is finalised. We also want to be clear about how people's feedback has influenced the final version.
Who should take part?
We want to hear from anyone with an interest in SEND in Redbridge.
This includes children and young people with SEND, parents and carers, people with lived experience of SEND, education, health and social care professionals, Council staff, and voluntary and community organisations.
Have your say
Please read the draft Co-production Charter which you can access on the right hand side of this page under the 'Key Documents' tab and then please complete our short survey by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. The survey asks what you think about the Charter, whether it is clear, what could be improved and how you would like to see it used. There are also opportunities to tell us anything you think is missing.
The survey should take around 10–15 minutes to complete but if you need any information in a different format or require support to take part, then please contact Abbas.Mirza@redbridge.gov.uk.

Thank you for taking part in our consultation on the Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Co-production Charter.
The Charter explains how children and young people with SEND, parents and carers, and professionals should work together to improve services and make decisions that affect them.
We would like your feedback on the Charter to make sure it reflects what is important to people and can be used effectively across Redbridge.
