Update on our continuation to take necessary steps to prepare for the project

As Redbridge Council awaits a decision on its bid to the Government’s Structures Fund, which is expected in the coming weeks, to replace Broadmead Road Bridge, we are continuing to take the necessary steps to prepare for the project.

As part of this work, we are speaking directly with allotment holders at Horn Lane allotments, where the site will be needed to be used to store materials and machinery and provide access during the works. We understand the attachment allotment holders will have to their plots, and it is important that we support them through the move to the new site we have identified for them. The move is necessary both for their safety and to enable the works to be carried out. The Council has met with allotment holders to explain what this will mean and discuss the support available to them.

We will also be assessing the potential impact of the works on nature conservation and local wildlife habitats as part of our preparations for the project.

We will continue to keep in touch with allotment holders and the wider community as plans for the project progress.
