Redbridge Together Cohesion Programme
Let's have conversation about belonging in Redbridge
Redbridge Together: Helping Shape the Future of Our Borough
Redbridge is a borough of incredible diversity, home to people from all walks of life, backgrounds, faiths, and cultures. That diversity is one of our greatest strengths. But we also know that strong, connected communities require ongoing attention and support, and that there is always more we can do to help every resident feel truly part of the borough they call home.
That's why the London Borough of Redbridge has commissioned The Belong Network, a specialist organisation with expertise in social cohesion, to help us develop the Redbridge Together Cohesion Strategy: a ten-year plan that will set a shared vision for a more connected, cohesive borough, and guide joined-up action by the Council, our partners, and communities themselves.
What is the Redbridge Together Cohesion Strategy?
The strategy will set out how we, as a borough, will work together over the next ten years to strengthen the ties that bind us, and address the things that can make connection harder.
It will be shaped by the experiences and views of residents, community organisations, faith groups, businesses, and public services from right across Redbridge. It will not be something the Council does alone, it will be built with our communities, and delivered together.
What are we trying to understand?
At the heart of this work are three big questions: What is bringing people together in Redbridge and how do we build on it? What is making connection more difficult and how do we address it? How can we, as a borough, work better together to build a Redbridge where everyone feels they have a role to play in shaping its future?
We want to understand what everyday life feels like across the borough. We want to hear residents’ views on their feelings of belonging, safety, participation in community life, engagement with local democracy, and trust in the institutions and people around them.
Who do we want to hear from?
We want to hear from as many people as possible from right across the borough. Redbridge is home to an incredibly diverse range of communities, and it is important that the strategy reflects the full breadth of voices, experiences, and perspectives that make up our borough. The more people who share their views, the stronger and more representative the strategy will be.
How can I get involved?
We will also be holding engagement events and community conversations across the borough later in the year. The Belong Network will be contacting organisations directly as part of this listening process.
If you would like to share your views directly, we would be happy to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey, your views will directly inform the Redbridge Together Cohesion Strategy and help shape a borough that works for everyone.
What happens next?
The engagement phase runs through to the end of 2026. Following that, we will work alongside communities and partners to co-design the strategy itself, before launching the final Redbridge Together Cohesion Strategy in 2027.
Thank you for helping us build a stronger, more connected Redbridge, together
