The Council has received a petition from local residents living in Little Gearies requesting that new permit parking controls are introduced. This is in response to concerns over increased parking in the area, which can make it harder for local residents to park near their properties.

HOW DOES PERMIT PARKING WORK?

In a Permit Parking Area, parking is protected for local permit holders only. Only those that live inside the controlled area would be eligible to apply for permits. Residents may also apply for Visitor permits to accommodate parking for their guests, tradesman and other visitors. Permits can be used to park anywhere within the zone that the permit was issued for.

The plan on this consultation webpage page shows where new parking controls would apply as well as the area being consulted (this is the area that would be able to apply for permits under a future permit scheme).

It is proposed that permit parking controls would apply at all times (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). However, if you would prefer any alternative days or times, this can be specified when completing a questionnaire.

All exisitng disabled bays within Little Gearies would be protected for blue badge holder parking only at all times. Double yellow lines would be introduced at all road junctions, bends and other constrained parts on road safety and accessibility grounds.

Should new parking controls be agreed following this consultation, a further opportunity would be given for residents to submit any final objections or other comments before any new parking controls are introduced.
