As part of recent housing developments in the Barkingside area, developer funding has been secured to hold a parking consultation with local residents. The purpose of this consultation is to understand any concerns over increased parking in the area, which can make it harder for local residents to park near their properties.

HAVE YOUR SAY

We are consulting you to see whether you would support new permit parking controls being introduced in your local area to help improve parking opportunities. We want to know your view.

Please complete the online parking questionnaire at the bottom of this page to have your say.

HOW DOES PERMIT PARKING WORK?

The plan available through this consultation page shows the area being consulted over any new permit parking controls.

Under a new permit parking scheme, existing parking spaces would be protected for local permit holders only. New permit parking spaces would also be provided through the removal of any redundant single yellow lines where feasible.

Only those that live inside the controlled area would be eligible to apply for permits. Residents may also apply for Visitor permits to accommodate parking for their guests, tradesman and other visitors. Permits can be used to park anywhere within the zone that the permit was issued for.

When completing a questionnaire, respondents are able to indicate their prefererred operating days or times for any new permit controls.

In most roads in this area, a new permit parking scheme would include both permit parking spaces to support local parking as well as yellow lines to help keep the carriageway clear from obstruction.

Should any new parking controls be agreed following this consultation, a further consultation would be held with local residents. This would include a proposed design showing the suggested parking layout, together with the opportunity to submit any final objections or other comments before a final decision is made.
